MJPC  Strongly Condamned the Assassination of Mr. Floribert Chebeya Bahizire, Executive Director of the organization "Voice of the Voiceless"
 __________________________________________

MJPC condemned the assassination of Mr. Floribert Chebeya Bahizire and urged the authorities to conduct an immediate and impartial investigation to ensure that those responsible for his death are brought to justice. According to Amede Kyubwa, executive director of the MJPC, "the murder of this prominent human rights defender raises questions about the power of President Joseph Kabila and his influence."

Executive Director of the organization "Voice of the Voiceless", Mr. Chebeya was known for his outstanding commitment to the defense and promotion of human rights in DRC. MJPC fears that the murder is an attempt to silence civil society in Congo and reminded the authorities of their responsibility "to ensure that human rights defenders throughout the country are effectively protected, so that they carry out their work safely and without fear, "said Kyubwa.

The MJPC also urged the government to show its commitment to justice by rapidly launching a transparent and independent investigation of the assassination of Mr. Floribert Chebeya Bahizire.
